I don't normally go in for "Halloween" and prefer to view it as All Souls Eve or All Hallows Eve or All Saints Eve but I'm excited it is Halloween at  Ikes world challenges  as I can embrace the dead and witches aspect.  It's ancient customs are a mixture of Pagan and Christian belief and was originally celebrated in May but around eight centuries ago was moved to a more dark and dreary date. In parts of Europe bells are run at dusk for the departed souls and lit candles were placed on graveyard tombs.  It was the Polish who originally believed the empty churches were haunted at midnight because of which doors and windows were left open the following day to welcome ghosts into their homes. More widely known is the Celtic belief derived from the Celtic night of the dead and the Samhain festival which was observed at All Hallows Eve.  The Celts believed that on this night the veil between this world and the next was at it's thinnest and that the souls of ...

Images used Texas Bundle Products used White cardstock Promarkers Coloursoft pencils Leaf stamp Red ribbon Distress inks Inks For the Autumn colours challenge at Ikes world challenges  I made a stepper card.  I coloured the images using a variety of mediums and cut them out.  I distress inked the background and added the hand cut leaves, when the card had been put together I hung the ribbon around the bull like a lasso.

I ceased the opportunity to try the camera on manual setting using the macro and flash settings.  It was a cold foggy and damp Autumnal morning.

These were done using a combination of old and new techniques, I full confess I anticipate redoing some pages! Gelli plate printing for the background paper Brushos for the bakcground paper Stamped images and coloured with coloursoft pencils for the background paper Brushos and tiny gems for the background paper

http://onestitchatatimechallenge.blogspot.co.uk/  is having a think pink theme this fortnight.  I decided to go a little barmy with this one as for me it's far more than about making people aware of cancer, it's about remembering those who spend years of their lives, reading, researching, experimenting and coming up with treatments and testing those treatments for this horrible disease.  Yet all we focus on is those who died, those for whom the treatment didn't work and how the researchers are failing those people.  Nobody celebrates or thanks them for at least trying their hardest, working with what they have and trying against the odds to come up with a cure.  So my card is for all the chemists, researchers and those who give everything to try and come up with the cure everyone wants.
