Sall the Crafty Baker

This will be a quick post and I want to start it by wishing you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.  I hope 2018 is all you want and more.  This will be my last post this year and I look forward to seeing you all in 2018 with what I hope is exciting new projects. I had an easel once upon a time many moons ago but I have no idea where it went so I bought myself a new one and this time I have decided that I will alter it from plain wood this time.  So I painted a thing layer of gesso on and then used distressed oxide inks on it.

This is the one post that makes me anxious.  I'm not a natural scrapper, I find it hard to follow the "rules" that were talked about so often when Docrafts first emerged and now I feel a failure if I don't follow those rules.  I admit I got part way through this layout and reached out to a couple of people who I thought still scrapped.   I didn't get any replies so kept to what I knew - journal straight onto the page and have a meltdown when it goes wrong, or hide it under a photo on a tag which proves limiting when you return to look at the pages once they are placed in an album. As you can see I went for straight on the page style and by some miracle managed not to mess it up.  This layout is part of several pages using photos from a lipreading trip to Paignton Zoo.  We had a great time with wonderful company.  Nobody complained at how long we took at each exhibit and everyone got to see what they wanted to see. I have happy memories of the day...

It has taken me a very long time to reach a point where I am confident with art journaling and feel as though it comes from my heart and soul.  It has become instinctive and cathartic helping me to express emotions and thoughts that remain confused in my brain until I complete the creation.  Often any text I add only comes to me at the very last moment if at all.  Almost all of my inspiration comes from stressful points in my life or from inspiring and creative conversations with friends. Recently I have started to share my art journaling here on my blog but to be honest that is not the point of art journling, yet me for me it helps me to communicate to others the person I am and how I feel, think, express myself and of course a way to share opinions.  Yet despite this art journaling is not about it being liked, understood or for others to agree with it, it is solely about me. It's all about sparkle for this month, yes a whole month for you to enjoy this challenge, at  International Art and Soul .  I've glittered this wonderful image for a friends birthday card.

It's Christmas at Killerton and this year they have gone Wind in the Willows.  I also took a walk around the chapel grounds and to see the trees in the chapel.  I haven't posted all 222 photos as blogspot isn't too keen on that!  I think due to other issues this will be my last adventure this year.
