I have a connection with art journaling that helps me realx, it comes from my heart and soul.  When I saw the theme was flowers for this fortnights One Stitch at a time challenge I knew I wanted to do something that went a little beyond spring flowers or even summer flowers.  For me flowers symbolise having survived the winter and now we have not only an abundance of colour but an array of vivid green crunchy delicious vegetables to eat, plucked fresh from the newly warmed soil but the first rays of a crystal bright spring sun.  So I’ve used “country girl” by Barb Jenson, she’s coloured with promarkers.  I’ve made my green {for those crunchy green vegetables} background floral embossed and added a bright pink/purple flower as one of the first blooms in spring.  The quote is from a Westlife song, but they may have “covered” in which case I apologise I don’t know the original singer.

One Stitch At A Time {OSAAT} Challenge 236 Anything Goes Special Lady

This is my first post for One Stitch At  A Time {I’m am so honoured to be allowed to cover for Nataliya whilst she takes a holiday} and I wanted it to say something about me as well as the theme for the challenge. The theme this fortnight as One Stitch at a time  is anything goes with special lady.  Now I have a few of those in my life, however recently one person has shown me just what a special lady they are through helping me when things got tough.  I send her happy mail a lot and she gets a special birthday card but when it comes to Christmas…the sheer number of cards to be made and sent at the same time means she generally gets a boring handmade card.  I saw the OSAAT challenge theme as a good way to show her how special I think she is at Christmas. The beauty of death

Gosh here I am blogging again...this time it's a "dark" art journal page.  I love doing these I just sit and play and see what happens.  There's something natural about dark craft that appears to my soul begging for freedom.  I lost track of time and it was only several hours later I emerged ravenous and realising Nan had slept for far too long...tonight I fear could be bad! I've used images from  Ikes Art  to create this page about the beauty of death.  I was really excited when I discovered it was to be a "dark" image over at Ike's Facebook Group challenge this month, I just don't see the "darker" images and creations around much. To make this I've used a background of distress crayons, the tree is made using novou mousse, the leaves are brushos, the mushrooms are stamped as are the bugs from various Hobby Art  stamp sets.  The quote is one I thought of suddenly at the end of the project and is written by me.  It reads: ...
