Art Journal Cover

I've used my infamous poppy stamp from Hobby Art to make the cover of my art journal.  The background is Cracked Pistachio distress oxide ink run through an ivy embossing folder.  I love how it's simply but the glittery letters add a vibrant pop of colour.  I've chosen to use Poppies on the cover of this because Poppies carry several meanings


  • Restful sleep and recovery {hopefully after a cathartic art journal experience sleep will be restful}
  • Consolation for loss or death in the family
  • Remembering the fallen in wars and armed conflicts 
  • A lively imagination {there are many who would say I have an over active lively imagination}
  • Peace in death
  • Messages delivered in dreams {I do have a lot of strange dreams maybe I ought to art journal them}
  • Resurrection and Eternal life
  • Beauty and Success
  • Extravagance and luxury {given the cost of craft stash it can be a luxury}.
I'm thrilled that so many of these meanings fit well with the art jouranling that I love to create so much.

One Stitch At A Time {OSAAT} Challenge 236 Anything Goes Special Lady

This is my first post for One Stitch At  A Time {I’m am so honoured to be allowed to cover for Nataliya whilst she takes a holiday} and I wanted it to say something about me as well as the theme for the challenge. The theme this fortnight as One Stitch at a time  is anything goes with special lady.  Now I have a few of those in my life, however recently one person has shown me just what a special lady they are through helping me when things got tough.  I send her happy mail a lot and she gets a special birthday card but when it comes to Christmas…the sheer number of cards to be made and sent at the same time means she generally gets a boring handmade card.  I saw the OSAAT challenge theme as a good way to show her how special I think she is at Christmas. The beauty of death

Gosh here I am blogging again...this time it's a "dark" art journal page.  I love doing these I just sit and play and see what happens.  There's something natural about dark craft that appears to my soul begging for freedom.  I lost track of time and it was only several hours later I emerged ravenous and realising Nan had slept for far too long...tonight I fear could be bad! I've used images from  Ikes Art  to create this page about the beauty of death.  I was really excited when I discovered it was to be a "dark" image over at Ike's Facebook Group challenge this month, I just don't see the "darker" images and creations around much. To make this I've used a background of distress crayons, the tree is made using novou mousse, the leaves are brushos, the mushrooms are stamped as are the bugs from various Hobby Art  stamp sets.  The quote is one I thought of suddenly at the end of the project and is written by me.  It reads: ...
