Sall the Crafty Baker

This is my first post for One Stitch At  A Time {I’m am so honoured to be allowed to cover for Nataliya whilst she takes a holiday} and I wanted it to say something about me as well as the theme for the challenge. The theme this fortnight as One Stitch at a time  is anything goes with special lady.  Now I have a few of those in my life, however recently one person has shown me just what a special lady they are through helping me when things got tough.  I send her happy mail a lot and she gets a special birthday card but when it comes to Christmas…the sheer number of cards to be made and sent at the same time means she generally gets a boring handmade card.  I saw the OSAAT challenge theme as a good way to show her how special I think she is at Christmas. This fortnight at  Ikes world challenges  we are asking you to all play along with our challenge that sees you ditching those pattern papers.  I love a challenge and my first thought was fine I'll make my own papers then I realised I still couldn't use anything with a repeat image as that becomes a pattern...hmmm keep thinking if there's a brain cell left that is! Eventually as I was looking for something else I found a cupcake shaped card.  With that I thought yeah why not simple enough and no patterns.  I've used the 'friendly shark' and 'seahorse' images from Ike's art. The shark is on the paper case of the cake and I used a line of liquid pearl dots {iffy if this is a pattern or not} to show a distinct line between papercase and the cake. The cake has a "fondant" seahorse for a decoration.  The whole thing is coloured using promarkers and distress inks. Look forward to seeing you playing along with us.

I have loved every second of scrapbooking once more and cannot wait to continue to scrap.  This album is a gift for a lip reading friend after we visited Hestercombe house and gardens in August 2014.

This is an extra special birthday card for a 4 year old.  A waterfall on a double twisted easel...hopefully the little boy will like playing with the waterfall. The dino images are from  Ken Benner designs at Stitchy Bear

It's a fabulous time of year to be looking at things with wings, birds, dragonflys, butterflys all those gorgeous things that make Spring so enjoyable.  I didn't go down that route though and for the Wings challenge at  Ikes world challenges  I used the saucy fairy and made a simple birthday card for my Nan.  {Her birthday was months ago and she adored the card, and actually sounded excited with it which really pleased me.

I totally freaked at this challenge, use pink!  URGH my nightmare! okay so there were easy to use colours too such as yellow, green and blue. However I slowly came around to the idea.  For this art journal page I slapped a mix of blue acrylic paint and glitter varnish on the PINK cardstock with a palette knife {don't panic I have three others for the kitchen so this one won't be making it's way back there}! Then I used pine green distress ink for the top of the greeny blue ocean and realised i'd got some on the paint and how much I liked it so I carried on and distress inked the paint.  Then I used Spiced marmalade distress stain as my yellow and PINK sky! I've added handmade embellishments...I used liquid pearls in silicon moulds to make marine life embellishments. My stamping is the quote glance deep into the abyss and the mermaid whose upside down glancing into the abyss. My journalling reads: It doesn't matter if you look into the ocean abyss or...

It is use more than one image over at  Ikes World Challenges  and she has lots of images to chose from, too many if I'm honest as I'd love to use them all in one go.  There are some fabulous new/recent images that have been really inspiring so do pop over and have a look. I've chosen to use the fish from the zombie pet shop collection and Ben on a raft.  Both these say a lot about me, the zombie fish because all fish will die in preference over having to come near me, what can I say I love fish and become a cat pawing at the tank mesmerised by them.  The raft is because I love messing about with water and in this instance it represents the barges on the canal.  I recently took a friend to the canal for lunch on an "adventure" and as I am making a scrapbook for her I thought these photos and images suited this double scrapbook layout perfectly.
