Sall the Crafty Baker

I totally freaked at this challenge, use pink!  URGH my nightmare! okay so there were easy to use colours too such as yellow, green and blue. However I slowly came around to the idea.  For this art journal page I slapped a mix of blue acrylic paint and glitter varnish on the PINK cardstock with a palette knife {don't panic I have three others for the kitchen so this one won't be making it's way back there}! Then I used pine green distress ink for the top of the greeny blue ocean and realised i'd got some on the paint and how much I liked it so I carried on and distress inked the paint.  Then I used Spiced marmalade distress stain as my yellow and PINK sky! I've added handmade embellishments...I used liquid pearls in silicon moulds to make marine life embellishments. My stamping is the quote glance deep into the abyss and the mermaid whose upside down glancing into the abyss. My journalling reads: It doesn't matter if you look into the ocean abyss or...

It is use more than one image over at  Ikes World Challenges  and she has lots of images to chose from, too many if I'm honest as I'd love to use them all in one go.  There are some fabulous new/recent images that have been really inspiring so do pop over and have a look. I've chosen to use the fish from the zombie pet shop collection and Ben on a raft.  Both these say a lot about me, the zombie fish because all fish will die in preference over having to come near me, what can I say I love fish and become a cat pawing at the tank mesmerised by them.  The raft is because I love messing about with water and in this instance it represents the barges on the canal.  I recently took a friend to the canal for lunch on an "adventure" and as I am making a scrapbook for her I thought these photos and images suited this double scrapbook layout perfectly.

Never let it be said that  Ikes world challenges  doesn't provide you with fun.  I love this challenge totally, I've never really been brave enough to die my own hair so this is the next best thing. I've used the "mirror mirror on the wall" theme from snow white and created three mirrors from mirri card.  In the mirrors I have placed two witches and what is called "goth" in the art store.  I've used various colours on their hair and had great fun making the mirror open out concertina style. I used a twisted easel card and the base is the "dresser" which the mirror is stood on and has some 'empty' yet spilt bottles of hair dye along with the quote "mirror mirror on the wall which hair colour suits me best?"

Over at  Ikes World Challenges  we have gone Paper Piecing crazy, well I have anyway!  A perfect way to use up those scraps of paper you keep yet never seem to use. I am so privileged to have been allowed to combine some hobbies with this piece and I am really thankful for it.  For a while I've been sort of writing a story about a native american indian girl, who doesn't really know where she comes from but doesn't like the modern world and sets out across America to find out about the Native American Indians.  The whole teepee, totem pole and indigenous women carrying babies in Papoose and those cute little moccasin shoes have been in my head for months {literally} and I'm so lucky to have been given the honour of using such images to create the cover of my story.  I've paper pieced the totem pole and the teepee using scraps of papers.  I didn't like the lack of clarity so with some help {thanks Shelley} I printed on to acetate or shrink plastic and...

The art journal every day facebook event for smeared and smudged inspiration was "green".  At the time I was distracted from crafting by the bright sunshine and the birds flitting around between the holly tree and the fence.  It made me think how spring is on the way and the dull dark greens of ever green trees will be over powered by the bright colours of yellow daffodils and red tulips.  So I used this to turn into an art journal page, I've literally just stamped or swiped forest moss, peeled paint and pine needle distress ink on to the back ground and filled in the blanks with bundled sage.  The grass at the bottom is hand but and covered in bundled sage distress ink. Over at  Ikes World Challenges  this week we would love you to make us laugh. My humour is somewhat off at times and things that shouldn't be funny are.  Anyway I decided I wanted to do something a little different and a play on the traditional, kiss a frog to find a prince.  This time the 'saucy fairy' has kissed her prince to turn him into a zombie frog making sure nobody will fall in love and take her prince away.
