Christmas Card Challenge

I mentioned last year that I wanted to do a Christmas Card Challenge so that I wouldn't be stressed or bored getting a large quantity of Christmas cards done.  I've made a list and assigned a theme to each person I send a card too.  Although I admit I did have some help with the themes.  I'm doing the list randomly depending on which images I have coloured and ready to go.  

 My First Theme is:  Away in a Manger. 

 The Carol Away in A Manager is popular in Carol services but also in many primary schools.  The Lyrics are:  
Away in a manger
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing, the poor baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the night sky
And stay by my side till morning is nigh

Be near me Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay

Due to the lyrics talking about Jesus in the manger after being born in a stable with the animals all around him I have chosen to use the nativity image from Ikes Art for my card.

I've made a basic easel card, the backing paper is made from brushos.  The snowflakes and "seasons greetings" sentiment are die cut.  I've used Nuvo drops for pearl snowflakes and pearls around the quote which I wrote myself.

One Stitch At A Time {OSAAT} Challenge 236 Anything Goes Special Lady

This is my first post for One Stitch At  A Time {I’m am so honoured to be allowed to cover for Nataliya whilst she takes a holiday} and I wanted it to say something about me as well as the theme for the challenge. The theme this fortnight as One Stitch at a time  is anything goes with special lady.  Now I have a few of those in my life, however recently one person has shown me just what a special lady they are through helping me when things got tough.  I send her happy mail a lot and she gets a special birthday card but when it comes to Christmas…the sheer number of cards to be made and sent at the same time means she generally gets a boring handmade card.  I saw the OSAAT challenge theme as a good way to show her how special I think she is at Christmas. The beauty of death

Gosh here I am blogging again...this time it's a "dark" art journal page.  I love doing these I just sit and play and see what happens.  There's something natural about dark craft that appears to my soul begging for freedom.  I lost track of time and it was only several hours later I emerged ravenous and realising Nan had slept for far too long...tonight I fear could be bad! I've used images from  Ikes Art  to create this page about the beauty of death.  I was really excited when I discovered it was to be a "dark" image over at Ike's Facebook Group challenge this month, I just don't see the "darker" images and creations around much. To make this I've used a background of distress crayons, the tree is made using novou mousse, the leaves are brushos, the mushrooms are stamped as are the bugs from various Hobby Art  stamp sets.  The quote is one I thought of suddenly at the end of the project and is written by me.  It reads: ...
