A Fun-Gal Walk

Okay so my title isn't as funny or catchy as it could be but I wanted to share some fungi photos snapped at Killerton.  Now this is great, I find them interesting, beautiful to look at but appear to be allergic to them!  I can't eat the edible mushrooms and I shouldn't be walking near trees that are losing their leaves and where Fungi is growing.  The mould spores released by the trees that help the fungi to grow create Asthma symptoms.

A few years ago I had a serious reaction to it and only realised afterwards why I was wheezing after eating mushrooms.  Now I avoid them, strictly avoid them food wise and dose up on antihistamine to enable me to walk.  I have used the term dose up because under supervision from my Asthma nurse we have increased the antihistamine to higher than over the counter dose.  This does mean I need  a prescription but it also means I don't have to hibernate come Autumn.

I have found Wellington Monument has the widest types of Fungi but last Autumn I found some at Killerton.  I apologise for the dark photos but I'm adjusting to using manual settings on the camera and this is the result...dark photos but also some great Fungi.





I love the way these fungi are growing out of the tree.









These Fungi were circling the base  of a tree.










The two tone colour and the frills on this one.  It appears so delicate yet it's so big.

One Stitch At A Time {OSAAT} Challenge 236 Anything Goes Special Lady

This is my first post for One Stitch At  A Time {I’m am so honoured to be allowed to cover for Nataliya whilst she takes a holiday} and I wanted it to say something about me as well as the theme for the challenge. The theme this fortnight as One Stitch at a time  is anything goes with special lady.  Now I have a few of those in my life, however recently one person has shown me just what a special lady they are through helping me when things got tough.  I send her happy mail a lot and she gets a special birthday card but when it comes to Christmas…the sheer number of cards to be made and sent at the same time means she generally gets a boring handmade card.  I saw the OSAAT challenge theme as a good way to show her how special I think she is at Christmas. The beauty of death

Gosh here I am blogging again...this time it's a "dark" art journal page.  I love doing these I just sit and play and see what happens.  There's something natural about dark craft that appears to my soul begging for freedom.  I lost track of time and it was only several hours later I emerged ravenous and realising Nan had slept for far too long...tonight I fear could be bad! I've used images from  Ikes Art  to create this page about the beauty of death.  I was really excited when I discovered it was to be a "dark" image over at Ike's Facebook Group challenge this month, I just don't see the "darker" images and creations around much. To make this I've used a background of distress crayons, the tree is made using novou mousse, the leaves are brushos, the mushrooms are stamped as are the bugs from various Hobby Art  stamp sets.  The quote is one I thought of suddenly at the end of the project and is written by me.  It reads: ...
